DR ABBility: Agent Technology and Process Control

چکیده
The latest buzzword in the computer industry is agent, but no one really knows how to formally define an agent. Today there are several definitions with a lot in common as well as a lot of differences. A highly unexplored area of agents is the possible applicability in the process industry. This thesis is both a survey over the agent area and an examination of how the process industry can use agent technology in order to increase safety, reliability and scalability. With the help of an aggregated definition, an attempt to create a building platform for agents is described. 1 This thesis corresponds to 20 full-time working weeks of each author.
